O’Connor, Runckel and O’Malley LLP would like to announce our 2025 law school scholarship recipient, David Baek.

David Baek is a first-generation Korean American who immigrated to the United States from Seoul, South Korea, as a young child. He was raised in Orange County, California, and graduated with honors from the University of California, Irvine, earning a B.A. in Criminology with a minor in Political Science. At UCI, David was deeply involved in the pre-law community. He served as President of both the pre-law fraternity and the university’s Moot Court team, and he founded the Anteater Undergraduate Law Review, UCI’s first undergraduate legal publication. David was also recognized for excellence in his strong contributions to undergraduate research. He began his legal career with early experience at a personal injury firm, later working throughout college as a legal assistant and paralegal at a local criminal defense firm. It was there that he discovered his passion for criminal law and client advocacy. These experiences continue to drive his commitment to public interest work and have shaped his long-term goal of becoming a judge.
We look forward to seeing David succeed in his upcoming years at UCLA School of Law.
